Our first mistake was when we mentioned to Colin, the cheery soul behind Sunray Sportswear, that it's just a T Shirt. After stealing a few hours of our time and schooling us in what makes these tee's great we're a little more comfortable about how bloody expensive they are. So stay with us, there's a heap of things worth knowing about Sunray Sportswear and their tee's..
Made in Japan on antique circular knitting machines by a family steeped in quality manufacturing since 1926, who've even been known to do a little work for the Imperial Palace. Whilst a slower process than modern technologies (each T Shirt requiring one and a half hours for completion) this approach creates a knit that can't be replicated in either hand feel or shape retention.
Better still the Halewai tee is created from a unique Japanese recycled cotton resulting in the soft feel and gentle surface variation that gets better with wear. Of course none if this maters if they don't fit... trust us these do.
A true classic fifties aesthetic with a slightly shorter boxier fit with special attention given to the sleeve area to ensure that true fifties silhouette, when the humble tee was elevated to an essential piece of outerwear.
