Call it Business Unusual... "At Patagonia we're in Business to save the Planet. We appreciate that all life on earth is under threat of extinction, so we're using all the resources we have to do something about it". Founded in 1973 by Californian climber, and surfer Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia began life as an offshoot of Chouinard Equipment, a tiny climbing shop near the great Rincon surf breaks. Today they continue to produce clothing and equipment for the 'silent sports', where immersion in the elements is often reward in itself. Returning all their profits to the Earth and its causes as they do so. “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, and use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis.”
